"It's not going to rain Irn-Bru!" (Why your stories matter)

How do your past weather experiences help us assess our future risks?

Climate change is not going to cause bizarre new weather like Irn-Bru rain, as one of the fantastic P4 students at our Invergordon adaptation workshop pointed out. Instead, climate change is going to cause more frequent and unpredictable extreme weather events like those we have seen, especially in recent years. For example:

- Typical summers will continue to get warmer and drier ☀️

- Intense, heavy rainfall events will increase in both winter and summer 🌧️

That is why your past and present experiences are so important. We need to know how our businesses, communities, and networks cope with all different kinds of weather so we can identify where we can improve resilience to more of these kinds of exposures in the future. No matter what you have experienced, please share a story on the Highland Weather and Climate Story Map and share this opportunity with the communities and groups most important to you.
